Eagle Eyes
A picture book (780 words) | Ages 4–8
Janey’s body moves faster than her eyes. She bumps, crashes, and rushes through her days without ever quite feeling settled. But when her older brother introduces her to “Eagle Eyes”—a simple, playful way of slowing down and noticing—Janey begins to discover what she’s been missing: berries tucked beneath leaves, ants hard at work, and light stretching across the cafeteria ceiling. As she learns to pause and look more closely, the world begins to feel steadier—and for the first time, her body does too.
EAGLE EYES is a character-driven picture book that offers a gentle, story-first introduction to slowing down and noticing. Rooted in real classroom experience, it is designed for both home and school settings and includes optional back matter with simple extensions for caregivers and educators.
Mindful Trail Book Series
EAGLE EYES is the first book in the Mindful Trail series, a collection of picture books that introduce children to simple, accessible mindfulness tools through engaging, character-driven stories.
Additional titles are in development, each centered around a different child-friendly practice that supports emotional awareness, regulation, and a sense of connection to the world around them.
💛 About the Work
These stories are inspired by my work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Mindfulness Facilitator, where I support children in developing emotional awareness and regulation skills in both therapeutic and classroom settings. The practices featured in these books have been shared directly with students, shaping stories that feel both authentic and accessible to young readers.
